I am recent; I am new.
Fifty-Six days ago, on the 20th day of Elul 5783, otherwise known as the 6th of September 2023, I stood before the Beit Din and said, Yes, I am Jewish, and they accepted me.
I am recent. I am new.
I was asked what I thought about antisemitism. The Rabbi said that in the past, he felt it was merely a required question, a relic of the past, but now he feels like it is more than it has ever been in his lifetime. I said I didn't see any group that wouldn't be as happy to discriminate against me already.
I know now that was not true. So many people have opened the door of their Jew-hating feelings and put them on display. I see people now in the streets and in the universities calling for my death. Regardless of my position on this conflict, irrespective of any Jewish position on this conflict.
Is it too late for me to go back? It doesn't matter. I wouldn't if I could. These are my people and I will stand or fall with them. I am Jewish.

שלום עליכם
